Yes she has been growing older (wiser) gracefully and now hit the century mark during the return of a recent trip from Malawi.

Herewith a few interesting statistics of her life:

I bought her on 16 Jan 07.

I have owned her for 896 days and we have covered an average of 111.864955 km’s for every day of her life thus far.

The fastest 10 000 km’s was from 90 – 100km which was covered in just 56 days – it did include a 6200 km trip to Malawi. The average being 89 days to ...

BMW GS Final Drive

About a week ago, I started feeling a vibration on the footpegs that was not there before. Switching off my music in the helmet, I could hear a slight grinding noise coming from the rear. I could hear it most clearly when I accelerated slightly, then closed the throttle. It seemed a lot more quiet if I depressed the clutch. Some reading on the web, and I found a probable cause - the final drive. I took it to Bavarian (East), as I was too scared to drive it any further. The bike is out of ...

I ride solo and I've been looking for a cost-effective viable solution for extending the range of my standard 1200GS...

...and I'm NOT going to buy an Adventure tank either !

So I saw a neat little 'TrimTech' 5litre fuel can in the shop (Game/Metro/BuildersWarehouse) for R99 a pop.

My mind started working and...

It fits like it was made for the 1200GS !

(No, I don't market / work for /own TrimTech)

Straps are from BMW shipping crates (talk to your dealer) that secured ...

Ok, so after riding the F800GS on Sunday to Rooiberg, I am ready to sell my trusted F650GS and upgrade to bigger and better things.

I had my mind set on the F800GS, but the more I thought about it, the more I started to think of a 2nd hand R1200GS.

The two will cost more or less the same, but I will get more bike for my buck with a 1200. Having said that, I found the 800 easier to ride and handle than my current 650. I am scared that the 1200 will be too “big” for me and that my off-road ...

Is this cool or what?

Scottoiler recently developed an automatic chain lubrication system - The kit is made up of a Reservoir Metering Valve (RMV), an injector (which feeds the oil onto the chain and sprocket) and a 500ml bottle of Scottoil suitable for approximately 8,000 kilometers.

There is a catalogue on the website's Technical page with more info.

Ian Reid is a member of BMW MCC Central and also the local agent for Scottoiler.

He offered to put the products on display one ...
